Love ain’t what you say, it’s what you do. It’s a sacrifice sometimes. But it doesn’t feel like a sacrifice if you really care about someone or someTHING. You can say you love Jesus all you want but when you watch someone you know is homeless continue to be homeless and don’t give a single dollar to help them, that proves otherwise.
Have you ever been homeless or hungry? What did you do? Who helped you? Did you stand in line at hours at churches trying to get shelter only to be rejected?
Being homeless has taught me some things. Don’t assume, you don’t know what a person is going through and you don’t know what they’re doing, because you’re not there with them. You don’t know why they do certain things. It has taught me so much compassion and I’m proud of what Christ has done in me. I decided to start giving (a few months ago) to the homeless people–and not worrying about what they do with the money (if I give cash) it’s not my job, that’s between them and God. They have to look in the mirror, but so do I If i reject God’s calling.
Money sometimes does equal love. Sometimes, that is all a person can do or give. Sometimes, they don’t know what to do, but sometimes, that’s the best thing. Instead of assuming….and instead of interrogating someone (that’s what it feels like when you’re stressed, cold and alone) help them!!
Most of the time, the homeless people have completely exhausted their options, and there is so much more they know than you do about resources and where to get a job, shelter, food etc. In truth, it takes more time to go beg (ask) for things, waiting in line etc, instead of trusting God and doing whatever honest work you can.
Standing in line, getting vouchers etc, is what perpetuates our homelessness or poverty. Being poor is too much work and you have to deal with too many rude, mean ignorant, and sometimes downright evil, or cold uncaring people and institutions–I found this out long before I actually was on the streets.
Give them a job, give them money–doing things Jesus did and would still do today is what shows how awesome you are.
So, I decided since I remembered I am the richest woman to ever walk the face of the earth, I will never forget that and I will proceed on getting the money to show for it so I can help lead others in this way. I can help start college funds for people who can’t afford it (not just kids or certain age groups, classes, etc) and I will not allow my family to have to struggle this way any longer. There is only one, and I AM SHE! I am a godly woman, HEAR ME ROAR!!
I want to give a shout out to my grandma, who gave me money for my birthday which added to my shelter and survival money. I want to give a HUGE shout out to God for bringing my mother and I back together and her money gift that is helping me too. It means more than money, it means my mother believes in me and my abilities, gifts and talents that God gave me. There aren’t too many people who believe in me right now, so THANK YOU! It’s the BEST INVESTMENT ever, to believe in someone! It is going to pay off for me, but for ALL of us one day! Love you all xoxoxo
